The Elevated Classic project was a celebration of traditional architecture elevated—literally—to suit a challenging sloped site. Our team was tasked with designing a home that not only honored the timeless charm of Queenslander-style homes but also maximized functionality and street appeal on an inclined block. This project seamlessly blends classic design motifs with a light, contemporary palette and practical living solutions.

Key Features:

  • Split-Level Design: Smart planning allowed for tiered levels that follow the natural slope, optimizing space and views.

  • Timeless Facade: Gabled rooflines, crisp white cladding, and dark trims bring a timeless elegance with a coastal edge.

  • Expansive Verandahs: The wraparound verandah and balcony were designed for year-round enjoyment and connection to nature.

  • Brick & Timber Base: A grounded foundation of face brickwork anchors the home into the slope while visually elevating the upper living spaces.

  • Functional Undercroft: The lower level includes ample garage space, storage, and flexibility for future use like a workshop or rumpus area.

Process Highlights:

  • Topographic Response: We began with a detailed survey of the site’s slope, allowing us to sculpt the plan naturally into the landscape.

  • Client Collaboration: The homeowners loved the idea of modern-classic fusion; they brought their lifestyle needs and we gave it form.

  • Virtual Walkthrough: Before construction, a full 3D virtual model allowed the family to "walk through" their home, giving confidence in flow and scale.

  • Council & Compliance: We navigated all local approvals for elevated builds, setbacks, and street-facing garages to streamline the journey.

Outcome:
The result is a home that feels both stately and grounded—an elevated classic with functionality and grace. Designed to stand tall on a slope and age gracefully in the years to come.
